Choose one easy starting point
Begin with a short iron and a comfortable half swing. Give yourself room, check the range rules and aim at a clear target. If you are unsure how to hold the club or set up safely, ask a qualified professional for help.
Pause between shots
A big bucket can turn practice into a race. Hit a few balls, step back and notice what happened. Were you balanced? Did the ball start near your target? Choose one observation, then try again.
Make the target generous
Aim for a broad area rather than a tiny flag. Alternate between two nearby targets so every shot has a purpose. A few useful shots with attention are better than rushing through a bucket while getting tired.
Finish while you still feel fresh
Twenty or thirty focused minutes is a good starting point. Stop if you feel pain, and take breaks. Write down one thing that worked and one question for your coach. Progress comes from understanding your next step.
